Nasdaq Stock Market Questions
Investing in the STOCK Market - Nasdaq, DOW, OTC, Pink & more question...? Theoretical Question... IF you could know the best possible stock to buy, for an over night only purchase, which market would be the most beneficial to be a part of. I have considered all, and find the OTC the most risky...with the highest gains. And If I knew what the best mathematical stock to purchase every day would be...I think I'd go with that market, As I see it as less-risky as well (since the funding is lower), and liquidity, mind you, is a part of that calculation (so you know the percentage of opportunity getting rid and getting stuck with a stock).... Also... Most Bull trends tend to be in which market? Bull trends that would double your money that is... Thanks in advance!

What is the ratio between stock price changes and market point changes? Every day the stock market moves by any number of points. The individual stocks move also. The move in stocks is called cents/dollars, etc. The move in the market is called points. I wondered what the ratio is between the move in money in the stock and points in the DOW/Nasdaq/S&P/NYSE, etc. So, how much money equals how many points? i.e. 1000 dollars equals 1 point in the market........what is that ratio? Thanks, k4k
What causes stock price movements? How are market or limit orders executed on an NYSE/nasdaq? What causes the bid-ask spread prices go up and down? I believe it has something to do with the Limit Order book and the order of execution? Does anyone know how orders are filled to make the bid-ask spread to change? WHat causes the specialist to hold an inventory of stocks? If the investors don't provide liquidity thru limit orders, what will happen to the bid-ask spread?
Day Trading Nasdaq, Nyse, Amex BB Stock markets; What are the main Trading Differences From The London Markets Are the London stock exchange markets just as easy to Level 2 Day Trade as the American Markets using News feeds, intra day charts with Brokerages such as Etrade Pro or Ameritrade. Are the London Markets as fast on Level 2 and are there any extra obstacles such as minimum Day Trading account balances or maximum round trips per day? I use Yahoo News and charts on the American markets as a secondary back up tool but on the London markets their service is sub standard. I also use Knobias for News feeds. What tools are needed for Day trading success on the London markets Any info, advice or experiences are much appreciated.
How to understand the trades, finance and stock market? I am trying to understand some business words but there are a lot of terms. What are the trades, finance and stock market for? What are the terms that are commonly used in those areas? What are the functions and effects of the different components of the financial world such as the Nasdaq, Dow, etc.?

Sell your USA based stock shares in a foreign market? Does someone know if this will work? You own USA based(NYSE, NASDAQ,etc.) stock shares-for whatever length of time. Check out the FOREIGN stock exchange markets overnight. Make a sell decision, for your stocks, based on which exchanges are going which way, and tell your broker to SELL YOUR USA BASED STOCK SHARES IN ONE OF THOSE FOREIGN MARKETS? I saw a posting on Yahoo Answers suggesting this could be done. But i always thought that a stock share was always registered WITHIN the country of it's origin-no matter what country. The reason for this idea is to deflect losses and make profits.
Where can I find historic fundamental stock data for the US stock market since inception till date? I want to find, for free, or at a reasonable price, a database of historic fundamental stock data for the NYSE and Nasdaq from inception till date. Where can I get this information? I am willing to get raw financial statement data and calculate whatever I need from it. The key is that the data should be SQL queriable. The best I found was global finance data which charges from 2500$ to 8000$ per year depending on the amount of data. Anything that can top that?

What is the stock market? I have never really understood what the stock market is. I have seen on the news that stocks have gone down. What does that mean? How does a stock hold its value? What is NASDAQ? Why is the stock market so important? What is a stock? What is going to happen now that stocks went down?
Where can I get a real-time Free Stock Market Ticker for my desktop? Hello, I am looking for a ticker that will show me in real time where the market is all day (Dow Jones Industrial Average, Nasdaq, S&P 500). I am hoping to keep this on my screen throughout the day and do not wish to pay. Anyone know of any places where I can download something like this?
Would it be wise to invest in stock such as CEDU:NASDAQ or ARE:TSX? I have been looking into stock trading for the first time and have heard that these two stocks are cheap now, and as guaranteed to rise as you can be in the stock market. I am a single mother who has never traded and was just wondering if anyone could help me. Thank You.
When you look at yahoo finance , or nasdaq, or dow, are these called indexes, stock markets or just summaries? They usually have listings that say something like Whatever company Inc. abbreviated WCI and then it has %up and %down for that day, last trade dividend, etc...and other financial information about the stock , not only that but these things usually show several other stocks as well. Like every stock in existence really that is large cap. Just curious of what the official word for these things is . Like this for example http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=SBH+
stock market and the listed company, how are they connected? Can someone explain to me in the most simplest of terms the connection between the stock market, the listed company and the benefit to the company when the price goes up and down in the stock market? I understand the bit about the company listing in the stock exchange to raise more capital etc, I understand that from O' Level Commerce, but tell me more, how does it benefit the company when the price fluctuates. Say for example: Company "A" lists in the NASDAQ, and floats its shares at US$1 per share. It sells one million shares, and raises one million dollars. Then 2 weeks later the market or the Index goes up a 1000 points as a result the price of this share is now worth US$1.20 So, now in the stock market the total worth of the company is 1.2 Million dollars. The share holders obviously will make money if they sell now. But what is the benefit to the company itself. The worth of the company is simply raised up due to a trend in the market rather than as a result of some new continued: ... rather than a new invention from the company that may change the world...
Can someone please explain the correlation between credit/mortgage fears and the stock market? "Major gauges tumble on credit and mortgage market fears; Dow, Nasdaq, S&P 500 all down 10 percent off highs - reaching market correction levels." This was the headline on CNN.com today, and as a person who just bought a house 2 days ago, I would really like to understand what the experts think is happening. How are the two inter-connected, and what it the anticipated outcome of this 'credit crisis?' How does it affect me as a homeowner and as an investor?
What is the best company to invest in on the stock market right now? This is for a project in my econ class. I am theoretically going to be investing $10,000 split into 3 seperate companies on the NASDAQ or NYSE. I want something fairly stable but with a good potential of going up (obviously). I am trying to make the most profit over the next three months-- there are extra credit points at stake! I'm just starting to learn about this stuff, so I need advice from someone with more substantial experience in this field. Thanks!
Forex seems to be more difficult to profit than the stock market? I trade stocks regularly but was wondering if anyone found Forex more appealing than trading the DOW, NYSE or NASDAQ? Also, has anyone profited more than they thought they would? Please no answers trying to sell me your proven methods. Thanks. Poloman1690, thank you for your honest answer and the link.
